The latest iOS 18.2 beta 2 release introduces several features, including Apple Intelligence, enhanced Find My capabilities, and new Camera Control options for brightness and focus.
Released to developers on November 5 with build number 22C5125e, iOS 18.2 beta 2 supports all iOS 18-compatible devices. However, the Apple Intelligence feature is exclusive to iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, and the iPhone 16 series. According to 9to5Mac, a public beta may launch this weekend.
Apple Intelligence Adds ChatGPT Plus Option
Now, users can access a ChatGPT Plus option in the Settings app, offering the ability to register and use ChatGPT directly. This feature, first introduced in iOS 18.2 beta 1 with Siri integration, now allows users to subscribe to ChatGPT Plus and view usage details directly in Settings.
Image Creation in Notes with Apple Intelligence
In the Notes app, users can now highlight text and select the new "Create Image" option. This feature uses the Image Playground tool to generate images based on the content and context of the highlighted text.
Find My Enhancements
With iOS 18.2 beta 2, users can share the location of a lost item with others to assist in locating it. A link generated in the app can be shared with friends or family and opened in any web browser, even if the recipient doesn’t have an Apple account. "This feature allows you to receive help locating lost items by sharing their location with trusted individuals or even an airline," Apple explained.
New Badge Option for Mail
The Mail app in iOS 18.2 now includes a badge notification setting that only displays for unread emails in the Primary category. The redesigned app also sorts emails into Primary, Transactions, Updates, and Promotions, allowing for more streamlined notification management.
Updated Icons in Settings
The icons in the Settings app now match the device’s color scheme or light/dark mode. For instance, if the device’s theme is set to green, Settings icons will reflect that color.
Enhanced Camera Control Button
For iPhone 16 users, two major updates are available for the Camera Control button. The first enables users to lock focus and exposure by lightly pressing the button; pressing harder will capture the photo or release the focus. This feature is off by default but can be enabled in Camera Control settings.
The second update allows users to adjust the double-tap speed for the Camera Control button, with options for default, slow, and slower.
iPhone Mirroring Support
The new update also enables iPhone Mirroring for Mac users connected via iPhone’s mobile hotspot.
These improvements in iOS 18.2 beta 2 continue to enhance user experience, offering more control and functionality across Apple’s apps and devices.
